We' re partnering with the world' s largest online social media and social networking service to identify a UX Researcher to join their ever-passionate and collaborative product design team for a 6-month project. The work will range from formative to evaluative; ethnography to usability. For this position, we are looking for a range from qualitative specialists to methodological generalists, with broad skills in qualitative and design research methods and an understanding of quantitative concepts. The right candidates will be excellent communicators, knowledgeable about UI design, passionate about social computing, comfortable in a flat/fast-moving organization, excited to collaborate, and focused squarely on influencing  the design of the platform.

This position is on site in Menlo Park, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with product teams to identify research topics
  • Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes
  • Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs
  • Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative methods and a subset of quantitative methods, such as surveys
  • Prepare materials for user research (e.g., interview scripts, lab setup, study planning)
  • Run in-person or remote usability testing sessions
  • Analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data
  • Design, field and analyze quantitative surveys
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, content strategy, engineering and marketing
  • Communicate results and illustrate suggestions in compelling and creative ways

QUALIFICATIONS
  • M.A./M.S./Ph.D (in progress or completed) in Psychology, Applied Psychology, Sociology, Communications, HCI/Computer Science or other field emphasizing human decision making and psychology
  • 5+ years UX research (or related field) experience required
  • Hardware experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with recruiting for technical roles preferred
  • Passionate about the platform and able to speak to our technology/industry
  • Patient, communicative, team player that is detail oriented and has outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Experience in general research and/or user research methods; expertise in usability and survey methods
  • Training and experience in quantitative research methods and inferential statistics
  • Experience  with statistical software such as R, SPSS, or SAS
  • Detailed oriented and ability to work independently on a variety of tasks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Can work independently and prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects
  • Experience communicating with internal stakeholders including but not limited to Product Manager' s Designers, Developers, and Engineers
  • Technical and industry knowledge with the ability to understand relevant tech skills, target companies, engineering schools, conferences, and scholarship programs
  • Experience with managing nuanced programs
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
  • Ability to travel during peak recruiting cycles
