Our client, a well-known safety innovation software, is seeking a temp to perm UX Writer to join their team. 

Reporting to the Direction of Design, the UX Writer is responsible for developing concise and compelling user interface text and contextual user assistance text. The UX Writer translates complex concepts into accessible and easily understood content that supports the product design and enables students, instructors, content authors, campus administrators, and  internal product users to use the product with ease and competence. This position reports to the the Director of Product Marketing.

High-Level Responsibilities
  • Write concise, well-crafted user interface text supporting Global Product content strategy
  • Collaborate with UX interaction and visual designers, UX researchers, and product managers to deliver compelling, accurate UX copy and page-level user assistance content
  • Perform and observe user research, and iterate on content accordingly
  • Give and receive feedback in UX content reviews, governance reviews, and stakeholder reviews
  • Evaluate -- across all touch points -- how the interface language and interactive learning design elements work together to construct a logical narrative in the user journey
  • Share interface language recommendations with designers and developers
  • Work closely with product teams to gain a technical understanding of products, especially customer pain and confusion points
  • Research industry trends and practices in UX writing and interface design for learning to deliver state-of-the-art learning experiences
  • As needed, create contextual user assistance content to be delivered in-app 

Expected Results

The UX Writer will deliver some or all of the following, as required by the project:
  • UI copy, including label and button text, inline text, and tip text as needed
  • Content for page-level user assistance topics as needed
  • Participate in and contribute to team meetings, training, and skills development opportunities

  • Bachelor’ s degree in English, Interface or Instructional Design, Computer Science, or related field preferred, with 4 years of experience writing UX copy for technical, procedural, and conceptual materials; or equivalent education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • A strong UX background and demonstrated ability to write for a non-technical audience
  • High level of familiarity with:
  • HTML editors
  • Wireframing and brainstorming tools
  • Social networking technologies
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills
  • Attention to accuracy and detail
  • A positive and imaginative approach to problem-solving
  • Self-direction and independence
  • Familiarity with the Agile software development process
  • Experience applying usability, accessibility, and globalization concepts to the writing process
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, rapidly growing organization
  • A portfolio of writing samples that demonstrates versatility, creativity, and innovation
