Job Title: Manager, Writing Team
Writing Team Manager:
Our client is expanding its world-class software development centers in Seattle. They are looking for a team manager to build, foster, and direct a customer-centric, bi-coastal team that is responsible for technical documentation, UX copy, customer support content development, and internal communications. As this team grows, they need someone with great communication skills, passion for mentorship & growth, deep product experience (especially Program Management, Engineering, and UX), with a strong point of view and leadership around documentation systems and platform development. This is a highly collaborative group, employing an agile software development process.
As a Manager of a multi-faceted writing team, you will establish and drive best practices, group health, and individual career growth — all while working tirelessly to integrate the writing discipline into our product development process and culture. You are an advocate for the written word, celebrating the differences and strengths of its various forms (e.g., technical education, branded tonality, emotional appeal, etc.), and helping the team synthesize each into a collective whole that is more than the sum of its parts. As the team’ s responsibilities evolve to meet our organizational mandates, you will be a holistic and proactive steward of the writing discipline, as related to our digital products. This includes, but is not limited to: establishing strong working relationships with multiple teams (Engineering, Design, Product Management, Program Management, QA, SRE, Marketing, etc.), developing technical documentation strategies that incorporate bespoke and licensed API’ s for multiple consumers, ensuring consistency across product and customer support channels, and helping communicate theory, strategy, and practice to an executive audience. On a day-to-day basis, you are a highly capable manager, adept in career mentorship, coaching, and conflict resolution. You will help shape the team’ s structure and culture, with an emphasis on operational efficiency, collaboration, and accountability. A big-picture thinker, you are passionate about architecting the infrastructure and automation that we use to author and publish our work.
