Director of Device Product Management

 

This position is responsible for all traditional Product Manager Activities for the company’ s products on a global basis.  This role is responsible for defining and specifying all features and product requirements for its lineup on robot vacuum products and accessories on a worldwide basis, as well as OEM versions of its products for other partners.  This role will also provide as-needed support for the company’ s trade show events (such as CES), as well as product roadshows. 

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor’ s degree in marketing, business or engineering.
  • 5 years or more years of experience in a Product Manager role in the consumer electronics/technology space.
  • Experience with consumer robotics solutions and “ smart home” solutions like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Microsoft Cortana or Apple Siri.
  • Possess excellent technical skills with consumer technology that facilitates enthusiastic demonstration of the company’ s products to the media and parties outside the company.
  • Possess prior people management experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of U.S. consumer distribution (retail) channels for technology products/solutions.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage inter-departmental and cross functional efforts.
  • Experience enabling a global sales organization, understanding regional nuances. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

Core duties include ownership of the following activities:
  • High Level Product/concept definition
  • High Level Product strategy
  • Product roadmap development
  • Industrial design
  • Marketing Requirements Document (MRD)
  • Product Requirements Document (PRD)
  • Focus groups/other primary research
  • BOM targets
  • Pricing strategy
  • Engineering and ODM engagement
  • Program Management
  • Phase Gate Management
  • Technology partner engagements (sometimes handled by Business Development function)
  • New markets identification and vetting (e.g. pool cleaning, window washer devices, etc.)
  • Provide feedback/input for all branding, messaging and product positioning that is effective on a global basis, to the Marketing Management function.
  • Facilitate the messaging of the company’ s product line, value proposition to consumers and its overall strategy/mission on a global basis.
  • Support the global localization of all marketing materials and deliverables (including packaging).
  • Provide review support of all copy and marketing content support for the company’ Web site and other demand generation vehicles.
  • Provide review support of product and technical content and materials including, but not limited to, retail boxes/packaging, quick start guides (QSG), technical manuals and “ how to” videos.
  • Work closely with Product Management to make sure all product and accessory programs are crisply executing to specified development and launch milestone dates, as well as proactively communicating to Senior Management when help is needed to maintain “ on time” performance of all company hardware and software programs.
