Job Description

You will be responsible for all the testing and documentation for regulatory and safety  certification for their products. The ideal candidate will have both technical and organizational skills for ensuring that all products will pass all required regulations for worldwide shipment

Responsibilities:
  • Drive environmental requirements across development teams, testing labs, suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Troubleshoot compliance issues, coordinating solutions with internal and external engineering teams, and partners/suppliers.
  • Define and oversee hardware certification test requirements and validate testing reports for accuracy, completeness, and ensure all mandatory requirements are properly accounted for in filing packages.
  • Communicate certification status and issues in a clear, succinct and timely manner to all impacted teams.
  • Drive product certifications across development teams, testing labs, suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Troubleshoot compliance issues, coordinating solutions with internal and external engineering teams and partners/suppliers.
  • Define certification test requirements and ensure testing reports are accurate, thorough and properly accounted for in complete filing packages. 

Requirements:

Minimum Experience:
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working with one other regulatory/voluntary certification activities including but not limited to; UL (safety), CE, EMC (FCC), RF (FCC) and others.
  • 2 years of experience in consumer electronics field or equivalent and 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance design, testing and certifications. Experience in EMC/RF/Wireless.
  • Experience with wireless technologies including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC etc.

Preferred Experience:
  • Degree in an Engineering or technical field.
  • Experience with regulatory processes related to and launching mass produced consumer electronics.
  • Experience coordinating team members from multiple disciplines to complete required compliance processes and documentation.
  • Understanding of Design for sustainability concepts: extension of useful life, serviceability, recycling, post-consumer recycled content, bio-based materials or Life cycle assessment (LCA).
  • Familiarity with voluntary initiatives: EPEAT, UL 110, retailer sustainability requirements etc.
  • Experience with regulatory processes related to and launching mass produced consumer electronics.
  • Hands-on experience in obtaining various industry certifications, e.g. BT SIG, WFA, IEEE 1725, WEE, ROHS and Prop. 65.
  • Understanding of applicable worldwide Regulatory standards in relation to our products and requirements to obtain global product certification. Knowledge of typical regulatory requirements, international regulatory issues, industry best practices, and certification processes.
  • In depth knowledge in one or more of the following compliance disciplines: Safety, Materials, Conflict Minerals, and Energy Efficiency.
  • Excellent communicator of requirements, critical path, schedules, strong organizational skill and the ability to multitask across various disciplines and tasks.

Qualifications:
  • Good RF background across multiple wireless (WIFI/BT/NFC) technologies.
  • Solid understanding of EMC fundamentals and control concepts.
  • Knowledge of Worldwide and US Regulatory requirements and standards with experience of testing RF/EMC/EMI compliance. 
  • In-depth understanding of parasitic effects of components and layout on EMI
  • Good understanding of systems, schematics and board layouts.
  • Experience with standard professional Emissions and ESD test lab equipment and processes
  • Thorough understanding of various EMI control components and tradeoffs in design choices
  • Printed circuit board schematic and layout reviews for emissions and immunity control
  • Thorough understanding of worldwide EMC regulations, standards and test methods
  • Preparation and execution of test plans and preparing test reports
  • Hands-on experience with EMC test equipment/chambers
  • Consistent record in solving problems related to EMI failures in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of Safety requirements and implementation
  • Excellent written, verbal communications skills
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills
